Racism and Families

Healthy Connections Knoxville has a diverse team of volunteers who work together to strengthen all families and to create stable and healthy environments for everyone. Our Black communities are hurting right now and they need us to listen to them and to give our help standing up against the centuries of oppression that have been holding them back. We know that this oppression and the resulting racial trauma take a huge toll on families, and we are committed to better understanding these effects and walking with Black families to find solutions to structural racism in our community and to heal trauma in our homes. We strongly condemn all forms of racism and praise local and national efforts to recognize and combat this cancer on our society. Healthy Connections wants healthy, stable, and equitable relationships in our homes and in our communities.  All of us need to do better and we commit to being part of the solution.
